Dragon Ball Z Confessions: Greetings Everyone,I please ask that you lighten up on confessions. I... -
Greetings Everyone,
I please ask that you lighten up on confessions. I know you’re just trying to get your feelings out there, but it’s not cool if you hurt others feelings in the process. So please, mind others’ feelings when confessing. I always feel conflicted when I come upon a confession…
I’d go with no filters on the confessions. Sometimes people need to know how wrong they are about fictional characters via caping angry internet mobs.

Anonymous asked: Did yamcha really whine at all in DBZ? I can't remember any incidents where he did. I think one of the main reasons why he gets so much hate in the fandom is because of the dub making him more cocky and goofy.
The dub unfortunately shaped many of the perceptions of the characters, with Yamcha, Chi-Chi, and even Goku being among the most glaring examples. It’s hard for me to blame the fandom because that’s what most of us grew up with, but going back and watching the original script is something I’d recommend to anyone who really wants to understand the characters.
I don’t recall Yamcha ever whining, either. Maybe becoming frustrated(?) like in that Gravity Room filler, but never whining about it. Did I come off that way? I was talking more about Tien and how he carried himself more so than a direct comparison to Yamcha.
People developing a sense of superiority because they’ve seen Dragonball, or after they read the entire Manga is one of the more sneaky hilarious things about the DB/DBZ fandom
There was an actual Toriyama interivew that was recently released a couple of months back where he gave his on-the-spot headcanons about DBZ, involving gems like Yamcha eventually becoming a host but failing because he was too shy around women still, and Launch actually finding Tien and staying with him for a couple of days but ultimately leaving because he was too uninterested.
Really wish I still had that link..
This.
I find this both funny and annoying.
All of these warriors who fight to the death side by side countless times and are supposedly so close, only ever see each other when there is a threat to be faced, no matter how much time in between.
Hardly any of them saw each other in the 7 year era of peace. At the end of Z Bulma says it’s been five years since the last time she saw Goku, and he was simply at home like not even off doing something
I also wonder if this scene was a small nod to the fact that.. no, I don’t think they ever do see Tenshinhan again. Aside from that brief cameo when Goku is summoning spirit bomb energy. (speaking of which, love 17)
also: No one knowing Goku had a kid until he showed up with his kid, no one knowing Bulma was even pregnant or that she wasn’t with Yamcha anymore until she showed up with a scowling baby. these guys are best friends and almost extended family.
although I can’t blame them, when I rewatched the Buu saga and saw Videl’s spaceship sized Cell Phone, my first thought was “you can’t FaceTime with that shit..”
I stopped being emotionally invested in characters many years ago.. it’s why I can follow the confessions blogs and get endless, free entertainment
greatest feeling ever

It’s all relative.. it’s the same thing with sports, people walk around saying Tony Romo sucks while knowing he can throw the shit out of a football and is a top 30 QB in the world, which is why he has his job. People will call J.R Smith or somebody a inefficient chucker all day but if he got them in the park he’s putting 50 on their head easily.
But I really don’t think people slander Yamcha necessarily for not being Saiyan, it’s just his contributions once we got to Z were minimal, and that’s what the western fan base grew up with. His iconic moment in Z sadly was the Saibamen.
For example no one really slanders Tien, because despite not being as strong as some of the others in the cast he never whines about it, and occasionally he’ll do some helpful, awesome shit like when he triangle fucked Cell. Yamcha definitely gets unnecessarily hate, and I’m not really sure that’s ever going to change

He had to knock each issue out within a week while simultaneously probably not giving too much of a fuck*, to be fair
*relative to our fandom I mean. We analyze and dissect his characters way too much.. You can go on some DBZ forums and see a 40 page debate on some useless shit like “was Gohan a SSJ2 when he fought Dabura,” meanwhile Toriyama didn’t remember what a SSJ2 even was.
i really need to quit thinking of stories i watch or read as “why did they MAKE them do that,” rather than “yeah, that shit they just did was pretty fuckin stupid.”
